ABOUT Benita Beckles

Military Career

Benita Beckles had a dual career in the military and corporate/city government. She served thirty years as a commissioned officer in the Air Force and Air Force Reserves achieving the rank of colonel and retired as a group commander. As a group commander, she was responsible for security forces, human resources, administration, family support, information technology, supply, food services, recreation, transportation/logistics, and civil engineers.

City Government/Corporate Career

Benita Beckles spent over twenty years working in various city government positions in Detroit and Phoenix. She retired from the City of Detroit as a human resources manager and the City of Phoenix as a senior human resources analyst. Prior to working in city government, she held various corporate positions in human resources and field operations. Community Involvement

She is a current member of the Goodyear Community Action Network (CAN) which discusses national and local issues related to law enforcement. Ms. Beckles is also a member of the of The Tuskegee Airmen Inc., Military Officers Association – Luke Chapter, Reserves Officers Association, NAACP West Valley Chapter and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. – Arizona West Valley Chapter. She also works with Vision and Sound, to further diversity in the Arts, in the West Valley.

Entrepreneur/Education/Family

Benita Beckles is a self-published author who formed her own company, Potential Plus, LLC. Her book, “Self-Discovery Workbook” has been used in personal growth seminars.
Benita attained a bachelor’s degree from Hampton University and a master’s degree from George Washington University.
Apart from her professional career, she has two adult sons and four grandchildren with whom she loves to spend her time.
